Julio C. Novoa, M.D.Novoa photo
Cosmetic Surgeon/Obstetrics/Gynecology

Obstetrical Practice

Dr. Novoa's interests include management of teen and high risk pregnancies and he specializes in high risk deliveries such as Trial of Labor and Twin Vaginal Delivery.

He is a panel member of the Del Sol Teen Center, Sierra Providence Teen Center, and Preferred Teen Center.

Despite delivering more than 3000 babies since starting his practice in 1999, and currently delivering more than 400 babies per year, Dr. Novoa has one of the lowest Cesarean section rates in the United States which is currently lower than 7 percent for primary deliveries.*

He is also one of the few doctors in the El Paso area who encourages Trial of labor (TOL)/Vaginal Birth after Cesarean Section (VBAC) deliveries on single previous Cesarean section candidates.* His current rate of Cesarean section for this type of delivery is 10%.*

* The current rate of Cesarean Section in the US is above 25 percent. The World Health Organization (WHO), and the US Department of Health and Human Services (Healthy People 2010) recommend a primary Cesarean section rate at or below 15 percent. Each of these organizations also encourage offering TOL/VBAC to patients although fewer than 5 percent of Obstetricians offer this service.

Gynecology Practice

Dr. Novoa is trained in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery as well as in office and outpatient procedures for the diagnosis and management of urinary incontinence, abnormal vaginal bleeding and abnormal PaP smears.

He also specializes in pelvic reconstructive surgery for the treatment of vaginal and uterine prolapse and procidentia, as well as, cosmetic gynecology. Currently he is the only OB/GYN offering Virginal Restoration surgery.

Dr. Novoa's knowledge and experience related to obstetrics has directly influenced his gynecological training and his practice. He has performed hundreds of vaginal and vulvar modifications following vaginal deliver, which has placed him in an small circle of reconstructive pelvic surgeons and cosmetic gynecologists.

Office Practice

Dr. Novoa provides all services traditionally offered by OB/GYN doctors. He has further expanded his practice to include contemporary services which include cosmetic procedures such as facial rejuvenation, laser hair removal, body piercing, scar revision, BOTOX, and Restylane.

Dr. Novoa also offers hormonal treatment for the management of sexual dysfunction for both men (andropause) and women (female sexual dysfunction).
